014 // The Conversation about Women in the STEM Workforce I Wish We Were Having

What are the real barriers to having a stronger presence of women in science and technology fields? Many organizations focus on the pipeline of candidates and generating interest in these careers among girls, but the big leak of women after they reach the workforce gets far less attention. Marla will bring her years of experience working with organizations that support women in STEM to a conversation that moves beyond the typical fare into "real talk" about what she sees as the real issues standing in the way of making progress in this area.

Marla is a diversity and inclusion leader who is passionate about educating children about careers in STEM. She is actively involved with Girlstart, the Technovation Challenge, and the Greene Scholars Program, among others, and was named one of Silicon Valley’s Top 40 Under 40 by Silicon Valley Business Journal in 2014. Educated in Chemical Engineering at MIT, Marla has worked in a variety of roles in the semiconductor and 3D printing industries.
