012 // Inside the Teacher’s Lounge: Stories your teacher never told you
Featured speaker: Greg Adler
We have all spent time in classrooms, so interest in what is being taught and how is of perennial interest. This salon will be a wide-ranging conversation about what’s happening on the ground in local schools, and what teachers are thinking about education in the 21st century.
How have students and schools survived No Child Left Behind? What is the focus of today's curriculum, and what does it mean for life after graduation? How do Bay Area schools stack up against schools in other counties, states or countries? Get a peek inside today's public schools with a veteran educator.
Greg worked overseas in both the banking and the computer industries before finding a calling in education. After nearly twenty years in the classroom, Greg has become involved in teacher mentoring, curriculum development and global education programs, and is currently an instructional coach for East Side Union High School District in San Jose, California. He has been a member of the California Teachers Association Instructional Leadership Corps and traveled to Ukraine as part of a State Department teacher training initiative. His student entrepreneurship project San Jose Walks & Talks received an IFT Grant in 2015.
