006 // The role of the police in 21st century communities

What does — and what should — a modern police force do? How can police and communities work together to build trust? Much of our exposure to law enforcement is through the media (whether entertainment or news), but this can differ from the realities of day-to-day life with the police.

At this salon, we will hear a personal perspective of over two decades spent in law enforcement, from the inspiring to the frustrating, what it’s like to be a female officer, and what it’s like to serve in LE at this moment nationally. We’ll also hear about how the past and present are shaping a future aimed at bringing accountability and transparency to policing.
